Expect The Unexpected – Squash Your Expectations

This station follows the talk “Expect The Unexpected

Resources Needed:

  1. Paper Cups
  2. Pens
  3. Bin

Instructions:

Today we learnt how the Jews had been expecting a messiah who would restore peace and freedom to the Jews by coming as a warrior to defeat the Romans.
Jesus did come to give freedom but not necessarily in the way they imagined. He came to do something deeper – to defeat death and evil itself.

We still get in a muddle today about what Jesus wants to do in our lives. Something we see as the main problem might point to something much deeper that he wants to help you with.

Take a paper cup and think about your expectations of Jesus as your Messiah, or saviour. Are some of them unhelpful?

You might like to make notes or drawings on the cup.

Then squash it underfoot to signify a new attempt to let Jesus show you who he is and what he wants to do in your life.

Leave it in the bin.
