Newspaper Prayers

Intercessions

Some ideas to use in praying for the world in creative ideas ways. Sometimes, especially if there has been a lot of creativity and interaction in other parts of the service, it is better to just lead simple lead prayers from the front. We usually end the intercessions by saying the Lord’s Prayer together.

Items Needed:

Newspapers
Large sheet of paper
Glue Sticks

Overview:

We’ve used this format frequently for intercessions.

Bring a pile of that day’s newspapers (carefully vetted). Place one or two papers on each table together with a large sheet of paper and glue.

Allow people time to looks through the papers and pick out stories or headlines that they feel they would like to pray for.

These can then be stuck onto a large sheet of paper and prayers can be written around the newspaper cuttings.

You may like to them allow time to draw everyone together and ask each table to share what they have chosen.

Conclude with a simple prayer offering each of these to God.
