Resources Needed:
- 2 bowls of water, half filled
- a table
- paper towels
Put the 2 bowls and the paper towel on the table at the front and in sight. Explain that sometimes it feels like our prayers make little difference because we feel that there are too many needs in our world. We feel like our prayers are just “a drop in the ocean”. Mother Theresa once said ‘We know only too well that what we are doing is nothing more than a drop in the ocean. But if the drop were not there, than the ocean would be missing something.’ Even though our prayers may seem small and insignificant, they all make a difference.
Invite the congregation to pray for what they feel moved to in their heart and then come to the front and put their hand into the first bowl. They then hold their hand above the second bowl to let the water drops fall into it.
(They can then dry their hand on the paper towel).
Model it before asking others to come forward.
