Printed Instructions:

What are your five favourite possessions? For some people it might be gadgets, for others it might be their kitchen equipment or their books.  What are the five things you enjoy using the most or couldn’t live without? Write these down on a piece of paper.

Acts 2 tells us that disciples were together and shared everything.

How would you feel about sharing everything that you own? If anyone from church could simply borrow your stuff whenever they needed it? Even those things that made it onto your top five list!

What difference would it make to the world around us if we held on to the things that we own less tightly? Could our generosity towards our friends and neighbours draw them to Jesus in the same way that the disciples willingness to share everything that they had drew others to God?

What difference could the things on your list make to the lives of others?

Spend some time asking God to help you to become more generous with the things that you own. You might want to pray something simple like this:

Heavenly Father, thank you for all the good things that you have given to me. Help me to be generous with those things, becoming more willing to use them to serve you and other people.

If you’d like to fold up your list and place it in the basket on the table as a way of offering all those things to God.
