Intercessions

Some ideas to use in praying for the world in creative ideas ways. Sometimes, especially if there has been a lot of creativity and interaction in other parts of the service, it is better to just lead simple lead prayers from the front. We usually end the intercessions by saying the Lord’s Prayer together.

Instructions:

Explain that prayers of intercession are simply prayers for a particular place, person or situation that we bring before God asking him to intervene.

Explain that people are welcome to pray for anything that they would like to, giving a few examples of things that people will be aware of, perhaps situations that are in the news that week.

Ask them to spend a couple of minutes talking to the people around them about what they would like to pray for.

After a few minutes ask for a few examples and then explain that rather than speak out loud or write something down you are simply going to spend a couple of minutes praying silently for any one of the situations that have been brought to mind.

After a couple of minutes close by saying the Lord’s prayer together.
