In Luke 9:23 Jesus says:
“If any of you wants to be my follower, you must turn from your selfish ways, take up your cross daily, and follow me.”
Jesus is saying that to follow him is to be willing to sacrifice, to do things that seem difficult or even impossible.
It might be to give up something, perhaps an attitude or an action that isn’t godly.
Or it might be to take something up, perhaps serving others or spending more time praying.
What is God challenging you to do today? Take a moment in quiet to listen to God.
God doesn’t expect us to struggle through on our own. Write a short prayer on the paper cross asking God to help you this week as you carry your own cross.
Keep the paper cross somewhere where you will see it this week to remind you to take it up daily.
